Koko Digital and BitDefender Wage War on Computer Viruses

Online, March 15, 2011 (Newswire.com) - KOKO DIGITAL AND BITDEFENDER WAGE WAR ON COMPUTER VIRUSES

A viral game designed to raise awareness of a range of anti-virus software products has attracted over 800000 hits in the first month since launch.

The project, called Virus Wars (http://www.viruswarsgame.com), is a collaboration between two Newcastle-under-Lyme companies - viral game specialists Koko Digital and software developers BitDefender - and has been played 818664 times since it was released in February.

The game is available in three languages - English, French and German - and rewards players with discounts of up to 50% on anti-virus software, as well as the chance to win an iPad.

Koko Digital Director Chris Steele said: "Virus Wars is one of the biggest projects we've ever worked on, and features multiple levels, and a wide selection of enemies and upgrades.

"It's a strategic puzzle game, where the aim is to defend your base from the attacking virtual viruses for as long as possible, by purchasing and strategically placing your army of defence towers.

"It's up to you to build a strong defence and stop them destroying your base."

Virus Wars is also available to play on Facebook (http://apps.facebook.com/virus-wars), allowing players to take on their friends and earn more credits by inviting others to play.

Koko Digital was established by directors Chris Steele, Karl Bloor and Stuart Howarth in 2006 to create viral advergames and social media applications. They have worked with a number of blue-chip clients including Red Bull, Cancer Research UK and Epson.
