Krav Maga Orange County Gives Specialized Self-Defense Seminar To Seniors
Online, April 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - In a special session, Krav Maga Orange County (KMOC) provided self-defense training for the senior community, ages 65 and above, in Orange County members. What was unique about this course was its specific target of customizing self-defense for seniors and for disable persons. The class was a tremendous success amongst the participants. The group's organizers, Bubbles and Hal, who arranged the class time with KMOC, said, "The session was informative and instructive, we are still yelling STOP and EYES, EYES, EYES, what a group. We saw the six others who were unable to attend and they were so sorry they had missed it!"
Since special physical needs were present, Yuri Boiarsky of Krav Maga Orange County had to customize the training. The challenge was to incorporate elements of the Fear Adrenaline Stress Training to a more specific level of physical ability. KMOC met the challenge and tailored self-defense techniques to the very active participants as well as those with limitations and possibly little or no use of one or more limbs. KMOC successfully taught the participants to recognize the warning signs of an attack, avoid threatening situations before they become dangerous, avoid physical confrontation by not looking like a victim, use verbal skills to diffuse situations before they become violent, and how to use simple techniques to protect themselves if conflict becomes unavoidable. Most unique and exciting was those techniques were designed to be successful whether the defender was standing or in a wheel chair.
