We're the runners up in nomination "Industrial Design". Hooray!
The 8th All-Russian Biannual Exhibition MODULOR-2011 in ERARTA Museum (http://www.erarta.com/eng/) is over. And we are so happy though we've got really tired for these 10 days. Our industrial design is not unfruitful: we bear silver! Now we have even a cosy lamp granted by the organizers as a keepsake. So sweet!

MODULOR is considered to be the most important exhibition contest in Russia and is managed by Saint Petersburg Designer Association. This year more than 270 projects were presented, awards were granted in 2 categories: professional and student artworks.

For the exhibition we've chosen pattern collection "Lace" worked out by our art director Elena Dunaeva. It is made in accordance with global trends: simple colors matching craft. Lace from Vologda (a historical city) underlines the Russian style and national charisma. This design, created specially for textile industry, was exposed for the first time and it's still possible to buy it with the rights transfer.

Our booth was notable not only for its exterior. In Russia "industrial design" means something that has form and volume (transport, furniture etc.). At first we thought our project to be in interior or fashion design category. But following the definition of Thomas Maldonado ("Industrial Design is a creative activity whose aim is to determine the formal qualities of objects produced by Industry", see http://www.icsid.org/about/about/articles33.htm), what we create - is exactly industrial design. We improve the look of such industrial products as cushions, towels, tablecloths, curtains, clothes, wall coverings, tableware...

We believe: print or pattern may be applied to any surface! But there are very few people in Russia who deals with the surface design. We are proud to say we were first and the only ones to represent this area at MODULOR.

All the information about winners will appear on the Biennale website soon. All the contest projects of this year will be available within the 3D-tour on the same website (in Russian language only).
