La Femme Bohème, the Original All-Female Version of Puccini's Classic Opera

Passion, friendships, and heartache drive La Femme Bohème.

LOLA’s second production of La Femme Bohème celebrates the Bohemian lifestyle, with all of the passion, romance, and heartache that nourish the artistic soul. La Femme Bohème is the original all-female version of Puccini’s classic opera, La Bohème. One of the many strengths of La Femme Bohème is the focus on the importance of friendship and the families that you choose, coming together through the good times and the bad.

In a world where females are often pitted against one another as rivals and queer relationships are still taboo and marginalized, this production is a chance to show audiences something different. We get to
celebrate women, genders outside the standard dichotomy, and how families of choice can become just as strong as blood ties. These characters and their stories are timeless; and though we are presenting them in a
new way, everyone can identify with falling in love for the first time, the frustrations of an unfaithful lover, the agony of losing a loved one, and the great joy of living life.
