Lake County Students Bring the Spirit of the Season to Lake Square Mall
Festival of Trees Premieres Nov. 24
LEESBURG, Fla., November 6, 2018 (Newswire.com) - The 2018 FESTIVAL OF TREES At The Lake Square Mall is a wonderful hands-on creative project that profiles the talents of the Lake County School System’s elementary and middle school art departments. Of the 30-plus decorated trees throughout the mall, several of the local high schools and even Lake Tech are joining in on the fun. Lake Square Mall spokesperson Anna Marie Chwastiak states, “The mall couldn’t think of a better way to bring the Spirit of the Season to the Square than through the eyes of our local students.”
In addition to being an amazing holiday art project for our Lake County students, the Festival of Trees also serves as a fundraiser for the Educational Foundation of Lake County. Lake County Schools Superintendent Diane S. Kornegay, M.Ed, says, "We are excited to be a part of this festive event to help usher in the holiday season. Our students are among the most talented and creative anywhere, and I'm looking forward to seeing the decorations they design. I invite the community to come out, view the trees, hear some good music from our choral groups and bid on a tree to take home. Proceeds will go right back into our schools to support our art and music programs. I can't think of a better gift than to help support the education of our students."

The Festival of Trees will be officially revealed during the Lake Square Mall’s tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. and they will be on display throughout the holiday season. On Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m, winners of the trees will be announced and winners can enjoy the spirit of the season in their own homes.
The Lake Square Mall partnered with two other Leesburg companies, Lowes and Cecil Clark Chevrolet, to bring this project to life this November and December. Joseph Clark from Cecil Clark points out, “The holidays are a magical time of the year for children in Lake County and that is why Cecil Clark Chevrolet is thrilled to be the official sponsor of the Festival of Trees event. We can’t wait to see all the decorated trees, support the arts and celebrate this special time of year with our fellow Lake County friends and neighbors.”
The Festival of Trees features pre-lit artificial trees varying in heights from four-and-a-half feet up to seven feet. Each tree is hand-designed and decorated by the students and teachers of Lake County Florida. For more information about this event and more fun free family festivities, log onto LakeSquareMall.com.
