Lale Steps Up When Asked to Step Aside

Today, Wes Benedict of the Libertarian Party called on Libertarian candidates to step up their campaigns if an opponent asks them to drop out. Lale's opponent did ask her to drop out early on, and Lale is going on a fundraising drive.

This week, Wes Benedict of the Libertarian Party called on Libertarian candidates to step up their campaigns if a Republican or Democratic opponent asks them to drop out of the race. Erin Lale's Republican opponent did contact her early on, right after the election filing in March, to ask her to drop out. Lale is responding to today's call to step up if asked to step aside by announcing her fundraising drive, The Great Erin Lale Art Auction Fundraiser, to be held from Thursday Aug. 19- Thursday Aug. 26 on the eBay Store, Magicalrealist Gallery.

Lale says, "Early on in the Assembly 29 race, my Republican opponent did approach me to ask me to drop out. I realized that I was being perceived as a credible threat, and I smelled blood in the water. I began campaigning more seriously. The incumbent in my District is a Democrat who raised $150,000 in the last election and will probably spend a similar amount this election. Assembly District 29 usually elects a Democrat by a very narrow margin, 53% last time. With my campaign platform to balance the state budget without raising taxes on incomes or business and without raiding local city, county, school district, and water district budgets, which I will accomplish by ending marijuana prohibition so we can that tax and spend $500 million less per year on prisons, I have a message that appeals to right, left, and center, and will certainly appeal to the 7,000 registered nonpartisan and third party voters (out of 45,000) in my District. If there is ever a year for a third party to rise, this is the year. I'm asking those who love liberty to support my campaign and bid to support liberty."

For one week starting this Thursday the 19th, Lale will be holding The Great Erin Lale Art Auction Fundraiser, featuring original works by Erin Lale, the world's most prominent contemporary sunprint artist, in a no reserve, 99 cent opening bid auction on the eBay Store Magicalrealist Gallery. There will be a kickoff event Thursday the 19th at 5pm at the Third Thursday Art Walk at the Henderson Events Plaza in front of city hall in Henderson, NV, where Lale's campaign booth will display sunprints. The Libertarian candidate for Governor, Art Lampitt, will also be campaigning at Lale's booth.

Lale was the founding Chairman of City Lights Artists' Co-op, a nonprofit organization. Under her leadership, City Lights opened a gallery on Water Street which has subsequently moved to Army Street. City Lights is still part of the Third Thursday Art Walk held monthly in downtown Henderson.
