Las Vegas Company Lends a Hand To Local Charity

Online, May 25, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Some say the only way to survive Las Vegas' summer heat is turn the tables on it. Dollar Loan Center has done just that by joining Fox 5 Vegas in its annual "Heat Is On" program to benefit Opportunity Village. For every day the temperature reaches at least 100 degrees through September 19, the company will donate $100 to the charity.

"We thought this would be a fantastic and fun way to help Opportunity Village, one of our favorite charities," said Charles Brennan, CEO of Dollar Loan Center. Brennan operates more than two dozen Dollar Loan Center locations in Southern Nevada. "Our companies are very philanthropic and we appreciate the services Opportunity Village provides. Some of our key strategic partners sit on their board and we are always amazed at the incredible work that they do."

The "Heat Is On" program started in May and concludes in September. Brennan said he normally doesn't hope for hot summers, but 2010 has turned into an exception. "This is the first year that I hope that we hit a bunch of days over 100 degrees so Opportunity Village will get more," he said.

As the temperatures continue to fluctuate before settling in for the summer, Brennan said he hopes for at least 50 days above 100 degrees. "I can't guess on how hot it will be...I will leave that to Darren over at Fox 5. He and his weather team seem to have the forecast dialed in!"
