Laser + Skin Institute Dermatology center announces a food drive in cooperation with the Interfaith Food Pantry
A month long food drive is planned for April 2010 at 417 Main Street in Chatham New Jersey
Online, March 27, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Chatham, NJ, March 29, 2010 - The Laser + Skin Institute announces month long event in support of the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morristown. The event, which is open to the public, is scheduled to begin on Thursday April 1st, and continue for the entire month. Donations are being collected at 417 Main Street in Chatham.
The Interfaith Food Pantry is a recognized 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that helps underprivileged families in surrounding Morris County towns, helping families make ends meet by supplementing their monthly groceries in times of need. To support a cause that she feels strongly about, Dr. Lisa Coppa Breslauer of the Laser + Skin Institute, will be hosting a month long food drive where everyone is encouraged to bring one food or nonperishable item to benefit the charity. Donations will be collected during business hours throughout the month, and donors will be automatically entered to win a Spa service at the Laser + Skin Institute's new MedSpa. The random drawing will take place on Friday April 30th.
"We understand that most people would love to help others out in a time of need, but sometimes they just don't know where to start." said Dr. Coppa Breslauer. "Sometimes the goal seems so big, that people lose site of how easy it is to help. We believe that if each person were to donate just one item, it can really make a difference, and we plan on matching each and every food donation that we receive." she added.
When asked to comment on the importance of the public's support of food drives such as the event at the Laser + Skin Institute, Ann Marie Manahan, Board Member & Capital Campaign Co-Chair of the Interfaith Food Pantry said, "With the Pantry, it is very easy to see the tangible results of one's involvement. The amount of food that goes out and the number of clients that we serve is in direct proportion to the amount of food that comes in".
Anyone interested in making a donation is encouraged to drop off his or her items at 417 Main Street in Chatham, NJ. To learn more about this event, and to see a list of current items needed, please visit: http://www.lsinj.com/about/fooddrive.html
About the Interfaith Food Pantry
The Interfaith Food Pantry is a non-denominational, non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization that was established in 1994, when a group from local houses of worship decided to address the growing issue of hunger by consolidating their food assistance programs. The Pantry is currently distributing more than 5 tons of food to 300 families each week. The Pantry's clients are primarily senior citizens living on fixed incomes and low-income working families in Morris County.
Groceries are provided to anyone from Morris County in need who has appropriate facilities to cook the food given. Individuals come to the Food Pantry for an interview so their needs can be assessed. Current patrons of the Pantry include senior citizens, disabled individuals, low-income wage earners, unemployed workers and families in crisis. Each family visits the Pantry every two weeks where they shop off the Pantry shelves from a given grocery list, selecting what they need for their family. Visit http://www.mcifp.org to learn more.
