Leadership in Usability: World Usability Day 2012
Online, October 26, 2012 (Newswire.com) - How can web professionals be leaders in advocating for user experience? How can designers, developers, marketers, content editors, and other interactive professionals be leaders in usability within their own organizations, with partners, with clients?
Join Northeast Ohio Usability Professionals Association (NEOUPA) as we explore Leadership in Usability at World Usability Day 2012.
On November 8, 2012, NEOUPA will host World Usability Day at the Cleveland Public Library. The event will include a full day of informative sessions, networking, user experience vendor booths, food, and fun.
World Usability Day is celebrated in more than 40 countries around the world. This is the eighth year that NEOUPA has hosted a World Usability Day event.
A session will be presented by Susan Weinschenk, PhD-a behavioral psychologist, author, speaker, consultant, and "Brain Lady" who reads and writes extensively about how the brain works. Her areas of expertise include applying psychology to the design of websites. Her clients include Walmart, Disney, The Mayo Clinic, Charles Schwab, and Best Buy. Susan will run a workshop exploring how to motivate customers, colleagues, and employees to take action.
Another session will be presented by Ian Everdell, the manager of UX & research at Mediative. His background in neuroscience, web design, and eye tracking have contributed to his expertise in user experience, market research, SEO, and SEM for projects ranging from quick-win audits for small B2B companies to long-term digital strategies for multi-billion dollar corporations. He is the project manager for Mediative's ongoing search engine and buyer behavior research, which has led to industry-standard publications such as the Google Golden Triangle and The BuyerSphere Project.
The day will also include a panel featuring local usability experts. After this presentation, there will be time for networking and discussions.
World Usability Day 2012 will be held at the Cleveland Public Library-Main Library, Louis Stokes Wing at 325 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, 44114. Parking is available at the Hyatt on Superior Ave. (directly across the street from the Library) or in garages on Rockwell.
World Usability Day is open to the public. The cost of attendance is $99 for NEOUPA members and $130 for non-members. Registration is required. Visit www.neoupa.org to register.
