Leah Nash Elected Chair of Get Active Orlando

Online, October 6, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Leah Nash, director of member services and leadership development for the Orlando-based Florida Nurses Association, has been elected to lead Get Active Orlando, the emergent volunteer organization that acts as the City of Orlando's link to fitness initiatives.

Nash, who has been a member of the eight-year-old organization for the past five years, began her term as chairman October 1. Kevin Fritz, president of Fritz Communications, was elected GAO vice chair and will serve as the marketing chairperson.

Helping to create a mold to encourage active living though local businesses and organizations, Nash views the ultimate goal of GAO as being the catalyst for the Orlando area becoming the healthiest region in the country. Last year, Nash spearheaded the area's first Healthy Workplace Awards, a program that honored employers who formulate and promote healthy initiatives for their employees.

Nash has been involved with non-profits and professional organizations for more than a decade.

Founded as a community partnership, GAO is guiding a behind-the-scenes movement by promoting physical activity in the daily lives of residents. The goal is 30 minutes of activity a day, based on parameters set by the Ameri­can Heart Association.
