Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 14-Inch Touchscreen Laptop

Nice, does the lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon touchscreen laptop (black) perform well? Many tests on its performance have been made, and now we will analyze the data so that all of us can have a better understanding towards its performance. - See more at:

enovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon touchscreen laptop is equipped with Core i5-342U
, Intel's new generation of IVB, and a 1.8GHz processor it can be boost to 2.8GHz by Turo). Besides, it possesses a 4GB DDR3-1600 memory, a 128GB SSD and a HD 4000 graphics:

Lenovo has 3 options in selecting the CPU for ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Intel Core I8-3667U, Intel Core I5-3427U and Intel Core i5-3317U. From the results of the tests we can see that the performance of the Core I5-3427U processor is in medium level among the current ultrabooks.

HD Graphics:

As HD 4000 graphics is a mainstream equipment of the current ultrabooks, it can meet basic needs for use although its performance is incompatible to those ultrabooks with single graphics.

PCMark Vantage:

It is obvious that the ThinkPad X1 Carbon ranks first or second in terms of PCMark Vantage. Both of its test results are on the leading position because of the effective assistance from SSD.

Battery Life:

The environment for testing ThinkPad X1 Carbon: adjust the screen brightness to 70%, open wireless network, and adjust the power management of Window 7 for balance. Under this circumstance, the battery keeps working for 5 hours and 56 minutes. The result reflects the fact that its battery life is merely stronger than its old version of X1. As the battery can't be replaced, can the up to 6 hours of working time support the use for a business trip?

According to the above test results, we can make the following conclusions:

The performance of ThinkPad X1Carbon touchscreen laptop is above the average level. Although its CPU belongs to low voltage version, it works rather well. Meanwhile, the HD 4000 graphics is incompatible to those single graphics, but it meets the needs for HD video display and for mainstream games. In the PCMark Vantage, ThinkPad X1 Carbon performs very well with its test results at the top of the list. It is adequate to deal with office work. As for its battery life, I think its working life should be longer than 6 hours. As its working life can be affected by power equipments and working environment, I think it will be improved if Lenovo's power management software is applied after the ultrabook comes into the market.
