Lifeskills South Florida is PsychArmor Certified to Provide 'Veteran Ready' Care

Lifeskills provides much-needed mental health, addiction, and trauma services for military Veterans through their specialized Veteran program.

Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare, a leading provider of mental health, eating disorder, and addiction treatment services, proudly announces the certification of Lifeskills South Florida as a "Veteran Ready Healthcare Organization." Through its Veteran-Specific Treatment program, Lifeskills is committed to providing expert-led mental health and addiction services to military veterans and their families.

According to recent reports from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and the National Institute of Drug Abuse:

  • The Veteran suicide rate has risen over the past 20 years, with 2020 seeing a rate that was 66.2% higher than non-Veteran adults.
  • 37-50% of Veterans returning from Afghanistan and Iraq have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder associated with a substance use disorder (SUD), and 63% of those diagnosed with SUDs also met the criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
  • Fewer than 50% of returning Veterans in need receive any mental health treatment.

"Odyssey is dedicated to caring for those who have served our nation," said Richard Clark, CEO of Odyssey. "We are proud to partner with PsychArmor to increase awareness and understanding of military culture and the specific challenges faced by military service members who are seeking quality care."

Lifeskills provides individualized treatment options for veterans, and their families, specializing in severe trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, and other mental health disorders. In collaboration with PsychArmor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to equipping citizen professionals, the Lifeskills team completed comprehensive training to receive the prestigious "Veteran Ready" certification.

As a national center of clinical excellence, Lifeskills South Florida understands the importance of providing culturally competent care to the military community and is a participating provider in the VA Community Care Network (CCN). The partnership with PsychArmor empowers the Lifeskills' treatment teams to deliver compassionate and effective care that better supports the unique needs of veterans and their families.

"Lifeskills has a robust history of providing superior care for Veterans, and we are excited to collaborate with PsychArmor to enhance our treatment environments," said Klay Weaver, CEO of Lifeskills South Florida. "I'm proud of the care our clinicians provide every day, and this partnership helps ensure our teams are well equipped with the knowledge and understanding they need to best support those who have put themselves in harm's way."
