Light Bureau: Lighting Design Award For KPMG, 15 Canada Square

Light Bureau has scooped the top prize in the Workplace Lighting category at the 2011 Lighting Design Awards.

The ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane saw over 700 of the UK's top lighting personnel gather to celebrate the very best of lighting design projects from the past 12 months.

Light Bureau was awarded winner in the Workplace Lighting category for their work at KPMG's new Canary Wharf headquarters project. The judges said of KPMG's space "this is such a fun and stimulating environment that the judges all said that they would like to work there"

Director and project leader, Paul Nulty accepted the trophy on behalf of the London based architectural lighting consultants "I'm very proud that we have achieved a balance between sophisticated design and energy consumption, creating a workspace for the people that use it. It's great the judges recognised that"

The £340m building is now home to over 4000 members of staff occupying 400,000 sq ft, over 14 floors. Light Bureau worked closely with interior specialists Swanke Hayden Connell Architects and M&E engineers Aecom to develop a lighting design solution that provides permeable space with exceptionally high quality finish, reinforcing KPMG's brand identity and company transparency. The building has achieved a BREEAM excellent rating whilst retaining many lighting features and integrated details.

Paul Traynor, Principal of Light Bureau said that he was "delighted at the recognition of this important award, especially in such the hard-fought category of Workplace Lighting".
