Limited Tickets For Up the Creek Music Festival Now Available

One of the hottest live music events in South Africa, the Up the Creek Music Festival, will be held on the banks of the Breede River from 4 to 6 February 2011.

Tickets are now available online at the festival website, but are limited to just 2,000 for the three-day event.

Several top South African artists and comedians have confirmed their attendance for the big event, with the line-up including a host of local superstars. A fun 'Anything that Floats' competition, food stalls, coffee vendors and bars are additional attractions.

The festival also boasts a designated kiddies' area offering a number of child-friendly activities, as well as a fully-equipped and staffed medical centre and professional lifeguards on duty at the river throughout the weekend.

The Line-up

Three stages will feature acts throughout the week-end, with the Bar Stage offering all-night entertainment and the River Stage rocking on the Saturday to coincide with the 'Anything that Floats' antics on the river.

Popular local acts include:

The Rudimentals - an eight-piece ska/reggae band from Cape Town.
aKing - a pop rock band, playlisted on major radio stations.
Jack Parow - the popular Afrikaans rap artist.
Karen Zoid - the award-winning rock vocalist and guitarist.
Captain Stu - emerging SA ska band already boasting a large following.
Accommodation

The festival takes place at a camping site on the river, so you can either bring your own tent or book tented accommodation before the event. Basic options include a tent for one, at a cost of R400 for the weekend, or a tent for two at R550.

The Heartbreak Motel is a more comfortable bed and breakfast option with one or two-person tents featuring tables, plug points, carpets and lamps. Designated showers, toilets and a chill lounge guarantee an enjoyable and exclusive weekend beside the creek.

With Swellendam only 8 kilometres away, a luxurious overnight option would be to stay at any one of the abundant and varied Swellendam accommodation establishments that range from affordable bed and breakfasts and guest houses to 5-star retreats and country houses.

Explore the Overberg

Swellendam is situated 220 kilometres from Cape Town in the Overberg, a region of natural splendour and seemingly endless attractions. The Overberg is also renowned as the Cape Whale Coast. Why not prolong your stay and explore all that the Overberg has to offer, including a host of nature reserves, botanical gardens, wine routes and shark-cage diving at the most southerly point of the continent?
