Sklar, an attorney with the law firm Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, P.C., has been elected to the board of directors of the Arts Council of Greater New Haven and will also serve on the Board’s Development Committee. The mission of the Arts Council of Greater New Haven is to promote, advocate and foster opportunities for artists, arts organizations and audiences. The Arts Council actively develops partnerships with civic, corporate, institutional, and medical sectors, advocates for local artists and connects artists with diverse audiences.
Attorney Sklar is well versed in the world of art and entertainment. As an undergraduate at Haverford College she minored in Theater and was a member of an a cappella group and an improvisation comedy troupe. In law school at Fordham University School of Law she was a member of the Media and Entertainment Law Society and interned with the legal department of Time Inc. and the Children’s Advertising Review Unit. As a child Ms. Sklar took acting classes in New Haven and she is now thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to the very community that sparked her early interests in the arts. “The arts – especially theater – has been my passion for as long as I can remember,” states Ms. Sklar. She looks forward to working on the Arts Council board and describes the organization as a pillar of support for the arts in New Haven.

Attorney Sklar will be working with the Development Committee to plan the upcoming annual Somewhat Off the Wall event, scheduled for September 20, 2014. The event will feature drawings, jewelry, paintings, photography, pottery, prints, textiles, and glass by 52 artists. This exciting and unique event, where some guests will take home original artwork literally from off-the-wall, raises funds for the Arts Council and awareness of the artists’ extraordinary talent.
