Linuxcare Rises From The Ashes To The Cloud

Linuxcare LLC refocuses on businesses migrating their Information Technology to the Cloud.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (May 21, 2010) - Linuxcare LLC has re-emerged to provide affordable services for companies migrating to open-source Cloud computing. The advantage of the Cloud is the ability to buy just enough computing resources for your needs, and expand or shrink those resources as needed. Linuxcare reflects that philosophy in technical services - buy only the service you need as you need them.

"Many companies are moving their IT to Cloud computing providers such as Amazon Web Services (http://aws.amazon.com) in order to reduce expenses for capital equipment, buildings, utilities, and supporting manpower," says Dr. Scott S. Elliott, Linuxcare CEO. "We have built Linuxcare in the Cloud to provide scalable services such as helping clients set-up, configure and debug their open-source applications, including Linux, Joomla, SugarCRM and many others." Linuxcare provides a simple web interface for customers to easily order blocks of time for general or specific services like configuring or maintaining applications/servers, or providing storage, security, or other tasks.

Linuxcare was established in 1998 by Arthur F. Tyde III, founder of the Bay Area Linux Users Group as the best destination for enterprises looking for competent, service level based Open Source OS and Applications talent. It was well-funded by Kleiner-Perkins and other VCs, and grew rapidly until the dot-com bust of 2001. The company morphed into other brands and directions over the last decade. Eventually Mr. Tyde re-purchased Linuxcare - "Linuxcare was the gold standard in Linux support, training, professional services and certification - in the Cloud Computing space, we believe Linuxcare can assert itself as the number one provider of 'Administrators in the Cloud'" says Mr. Tyde.

The recent emergence of Cloud computing and the resurgence of enterprise-grade open-source applications has created a need for affordable, on-call technical expertise. After re-acquiring the Linuxcare brand. Linuxcare has recently established a global network of top open-source talent and service partners to provide this expertise, with Headquarters Offices based in San Francisco, California.
