Live Longer as a Vegetarian
A Longer Life with a Vegetarian Diet (study from JAMA Internal Medicine).
Online, February 18, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Well, the belief that vegetarians live longer than meat-eaters isn’t a new one to us but it’s now making national news, with the Wall Street Journal reporting on a study from "JAMA Internal Medicine", revealing that same finding.
The news that appeared last year and in the JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) both have the same focus — members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, recommends members to follow a vegetarian diet.
The JAMA study found that such a diet appeared to offer protection against heart disease (a death rate 19 percent lower than that of meat eaters), diabetes and kidney failure. Interestingly, according to the WSJ article, the diet seemed to have a more beneficial effect on men than women. To learn more, read the entire WSJ article here.
