Support Teen EmPowerLNOKC, Leaders Network of OKC’s June event features Teen EmPower!  Founded by Kathy Harms of Oklahoma City, its mission is to prevent adolescents from engaging in high risk behaviors through youth development strategies that promote a healthy and successful transition into adulthood.

“We are advocating healthy relationships, communication, confidence and assertiveness to reduce ignorance, teen pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and substance abuse,” said Kathy Harms, Founder.

People want to be heard, and sometimes they cannot find the strength to use their own voice. Excellence involves learning constantly- opening other's eyes to causes and arming them with knowledge. I want to use my voice to help, do more, improve daily and remain inspired. This is my "why." -Julie Elerick

LNOKC began last year and is a movement for professionals in our community who want to make a difference.  Each month a new cause is featured.  The suggested donation of $10 gains you entry into Waters Edge Winery for food, fun, networking, and, well, “empowerment.”

“There are many people in our area needing various services.  Our team brings to light how people can receive help.  If we can save one family from a bad situation then we have made a positive difference,” says Julie Elerick, Marketing Board Member of LNOKC.

Guests can enjoy wine and art by sisters Carla Waugh and Leslie Waugh Dallam.  The event begins at 5:30, and reservations are encouraged. You may visit LNOKC’s event page on Facebook or email [email protected].  If you cannot attend the event and want to make a donation or sponsor a raffle item, all proceeds will benefit Teen EmPower’s initiatives to continue offering a prevention program with teaching that excludes any judgment, shame, blame or guilt.  More information on Teen EmPower! is available online.
