Local Entrepreneurs, Startups Invited to Compete in UPNEXT Festival

There has never been a better time to be an entrepreneur or startup business in Central Pennsylvania. As part of the 2015 UPNEXT Festival, to take place in Harrisburg on October 10th through the 17th, two contests will provide the opportunity to turn new ideas into budding business ventures.

The UPNEXT 1.0 Hack is a week-long contest in which teams compete to transform an idea into a viable product for a chance to $25,000 in cash and prizes. In true startup fashion, teams will work throughout the week to create the best product and present the best pitch to impress the judges. This contest is designed for early-stage startups that have an idea, but have not yet started to build a product. Individuals or groups may register as part of the UPNEXT Festival. More information can be found at: http://www.upnextfest.com/upnext1.

The UPNEXT 2.0 Pitch Contest is designed for established startups who wish to polish their pitches in order to impress a panel of Angel and VC investors. Businesses will have the opportunity to pitch to active investors and the winner will receive an exclusive audience with one or more investors. Participants may also have their company featured in marketing and advertising materials for current and future UPNEXT Fest events. More information can be found at: http://www.upnextfest.com/upnext2.

We're excited to offer events that cater to startups at different stages of development. UPNEXT 1.0 provides an avenue where ideas become reality. UPNEXT 2.0 is designed to give business model feedback and funding opportunities to existing, early stage companies.

Both of these contests are part of the 8-day UPNEXT Festival that celebrates technology, design and the arts in the Capital region. By day, more than 20 conference sessions will provide attendees with valuable insights and educational opportunities. After hours, guests can enjoy dozens of artists performing in multiple venues at different networking events throughout the city of Harrisburg.
