LOCAL MUSIC REVOLUTION invades The Metro for its third annual 3-day music festival

(CHICAGO, IL) - Any music lover will testify that summer in Chicago brings one thing to mind: music festivals. Local Music Revolution is a one-of-a-kind event focusing solely on showcasing local talent. The festival takes place August 12-14 at The Metro with three full days of live music and an industry panel.

Founder Shawn Kellner explains, "In 2008 my brother and I set out with a goal to present a yearly festival to give local music in Chicago its own voice; I had no idea how quickly it would grow. We started at a small venue in the suburbs focusing on a few 'hometown hero' acts. The following year we went all in, passing through the Congress Theatre where a total of 60 bands performed in two days, attracting over 3,000 people. This year, we are proud to announce we have found our true home at the legendary venue, The Metro."

It's only fitting to hold the festival where so many key Chicago artists have performed before peaking in their careers. "Last year, Gold Motel was one of our headliners and this year, they're playing the main stage at Lollapalooza," says Kellner. "We grow and progress alongside the artists we collaborate with."

This year, 17 bands will invade Local Music Revolution with key performances by AM Taxi (Virgin Records), Makeshift Prodigy (Atlantic Records), The Last Vegas and a number of other promising artists. A full list of performers can be seen here. http://www.localmusicrevolution.com/flyer.jpg

In addition to the live music showcase, Local Music Revolution is also offering the opportunity to be a part of a very unique function-- a seminar on Saturday, August 13 focusing on 'The Status of Local Music in Chicago'. Open to all ages and running from Noon until 3:00 pm, this will be a platform for an engaging discussion between music industry professionals and attendees on the current state of the local music community.

"This year we are joining forces with active people involved in Chicago music. We have invited club owners, talent buyers, booking agents, publicists, media, and most importantly musicians of all levels to hold an open forum town hall meeting discussion on the status of local music in Chicago. Our hope is that by opening up a better line of communication between these channels, Chicago can once again be recognized for its vibrant, booming music community. This can be the start of a movement: A Local Music Revolution."

Tickets for the event are available for a pre-sale price of $13 and $16 the day of. Admission to the music seminar is $5. A limited amount of 3-day passes are also available for $35 which allows for access to all three shows and the music seminar. All music events are all ages with doors opening at 5 pm.
