Local Singer Raising Funds to Attend AMDA in New York City For Fall 2013

Online, August 22, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Kim Federoff, life-long Monrovia resident, has been attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Hollywood CA for the last year in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program for Musical Theatre.

This October she was selected by AMDA to continue her education in New York City for one semester.

Leading up to the beginning of last year, she received several scholarships and was able to secure financial aid to help supplement her musical theatre education.

However, she has come up short when she found out that AMDA is no longer able to receive funds from the Cal Grant, setting her back a significant amount.

THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR

A friend of hers told her about the website Indiegogo.com, a fundraising site for artists. She has recently launched her own local campaign on the popular site, calling it The Pixie Dust Project. She hopes to raise the rest of the funds she needs to attend school this fall.

In addition, she has also started her own website to help get the word out about her campaign and also so people can learn a little more about her and what she is all about.

"Being able to attend school in New York this fall would be a dream come true" says Kim, as she is hoping to raise the additional funds needed and be that much closer to one day performing on Broadway.

Kim has been a resident of Monrovia her whole life. She went to Wild Rose Elementary school, was a Clifton Cub and graduated from Monrovia High School.

Her talent blossomed early and she has been active in the arts her entire life. While in the girl scouts, she received her "Gold" award by putting on a benefit concert for the Monrovia High School Drama Department. Her first acting break was in the show Oliver at Monrovia High School when she was in the 4th grade as an orphan. She had her first line on stage, "Fabulous", in the musical number "Food Glorious Food".

She continued doing musical theatre and started taking voice lessons from Keely Milliken when she was in 6th grade. She joined Keely's theatre company, Centre Stage, and continued doing shows with them all through high school and college.

She has been a part of the Citrus Singers and performed in several musical productions, including SWEENEY TODD at Haugh Performing Arts Center. And most recently in the Centre Stage production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. She also performs and sings jazz standards regularly with a local big band, the Gem City JazzCats.
