Local Woman Quits Job To Pursue Entrepreneurial Photography Dream

Jen Mitsuko quits her valet job to become a professional photographer.

Portland, OR - Jen Mitsuko, 27, quit her job working as a Valet at The Nines hotel to become a professional photographer. The job had low pay, did not offer challenges and did not fulfill her desires or needs.

Like many young individuals today, Jen decided to start her own business. "Why kill myself working for someone else when I can enjoy what I do and still make money?" said the local entrepreneur with 10 years of photography experience. So she teamed up with Cami Hines (who holds an MBA in marketing) to create Mitsuko Photography.

Why photography? "I like to create my own little worlds." Jen says but she admits that it has been a rough start. The issue, it seems, is that due to the economy, many local companies that need photos seek out hobbyist on craigslist that will give them low quality photos for free. Even with the most reasonable, competitive prices in town Mitsuko Photography has a tough time competing with Free. Jen states; "My goal is to create the highest quality most unique photographs for my clients to ultimately increase their revenue through eye-catching imaging."
