LogYourRun Launches New IPhone™ Application With Heart Rate

Great news for people who use heart rate to assess their workouts. The online health and fitness website LogYourRun.com has launched version 3.0 of their GPS enabled iPhone application, now with heart rate!

With this latest release LogYourRun has worked closely with WahooFitness, the makers of an ANT+™ enabled hardware solution for the iPhone, to bring a product to market with offers detailed heart rate information. Through this collaboration the LogYourRun iPhone application can now receive data from ANT+ enabled heart rate monitors as well as ANT+ enabled foot pods/stride sensors. With version 3.0 the LogYourRun iPhone application will now report your average and max heart rate, time in zones and will store a graph of your heart rate over time that can be uploaded to the LogYourRun website for future analysis. By using the stride sensor to measure distance it is now possible to get accurate distance and speed information on the iPod Touch™, which does not have GPS and thus in the past was not able to provide reliable distance measures.

In addition to working with ANT+ devices the LogYourRun legacy functionalities include using both the GPS and the accelerometer of the iPhone to measure the speed and distance travelled outdoors and an extensive system for sharing exercise activities on social media. Safety features of the application include a functionality that will update your twitter account with your location and an easy to access in case of emergency button that will invoke the phone to call the emergency contact.
