London Barcelona 2012: Dual City Summer Sessions for Art and Design in Europe

London Barcelona 2012: The Dual City Summer Sessions are a series of creative, inspiring, international short courses in art and design that help build portfolios and boost careers.

The Dual City Summer Sessions began in 2006 as a range of practical art and design courses that commence at Central Saint Martins in London and end in Milan, Barcelona or Paris. The partners in these programmes are all colleges with outstanding reputations based in cities famous for their culture and creativity.

These courses are the perfect opportunity for students to develop new skills, sample the environment of these prestigious institutions, make new friends and business contacts and learn the latest industry thinking from an impressive role call of tutors, many of whom have their own external art or design practices.

Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London is collaborating with ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, to offer a fascinating European design journey over four weeks in Summer 2012.

Starting in the vibrant, global metropolis of London with its wealth of sources of inspiration from the past to the present and ending in one of southern Europe's most attractive, design focused cities with great architecture and great weather.

These courses are for portfolio-builders, current students, new professionals and creative individuals with an interest in advertising, architecture, art history, furniture design, visual merchandising, photography and sporting games legacy design. All courses are taught in English and suitable for all ages (18+) and abilities with no prerequisites.

Central Saint Martins
For more than 150 years, Central Saint Martins has pioneered radical innovations in art and design teaching and learning. Its influence feeds into the arts education system, culture, industry and mainstream society. This is felt across the world, contributing to the high international value placed on British culture and creativity.

In October 2011, Central Saint Martins' unveiled its new 39,000 square-metre campus, the centre piece of a major redevelopment behind King's Cross railway station in central London. Occupying a landmark Grade II listed Granary building featuring breathtaking design, combining the urban scale of historic industrial architecture with a fluid, modern space with world class facilities where Central Saint Martins will carry forward the best of its history into a new era of high quality arts education.

ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering
2011 marks ELISAVA's 50th anniversary. A long history as a pioneering school in the teaching of design and engineering which is still contributing to training professionals. ELISAVA, which is affiliated to Pompeu Fabra University, has over 2,200 students from around the world enrolled in the official courses for Degrees in Design, Industrial Design Engineering, and Building Engineering. The Master's and Postgraduate Degrees on offer relate to the areas of Architecture and Interior Design, Fashion, Graphic and Communication, Product and Strategic and Thought. ELISAVA is strongly aimed at the professional world and collaborates widely with local, nationwide and international companies, institutions and universities.
