Long Island Drivers Get Educated on New Mazda CX-5 Braking Technology Coming to Bright Bay Mazda

Bright Bay Mazda is excited to announce that a new braking technology, Smart city Brake Support technology, will be installed on the 2013 Mazda CX-5.

Bright Bay Mazda is proud to announce that Mazda's Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) technology will be available on all 2013 Mazda CX-5 models at the Long Island dealership. The new safety technology produced by Mazda is loaded with new safety features that will help to reduce the number of frontal crashes for the Mazda CX-5.

Mazda's new Smart City Brake Support technology is designed to help decrease the vehicle from rear-ending cars. Mazda is excited for the technology to be taken advantage of in urban areas with lots of stop and go traffic and in slow traffic in general. The technology works to assist drivers in high density and slow moving traffic where drivers need to pay attention to all movements around them.

The SCBS system utilizes a laser sensor installed on the Mazda CX-5 that is able to determine if a vehicle or object is in front of the vehicle. If there is, the system decreases rotor distance to allow for quicker braking. If drivers do not activate the brake, the system will automatically apply the brakes and reduce engine output in an effort to avoid collision. At the minimum, the system helps to reduce impact speed and lessen the damage done to vehicles. The SCBS system is available when the Mazda CX-5 is traveling 3-18 mph.

The new safety technology also includes Acceleration Control for Automatic Transmission. With the SCBS system active and detecting an object in front, if the driver hits the acceleration an alarm will sound and an indicator will be displayed while the engine output is curbed to stop unintended acceleration.

The Smart City Brake Support technology will also be available on Mazda vehicles coming out in the future.
