Longtree & Associates Celebrates 24th Anniversary as Health and Elder Care Education Leader with Symposium in Princeton, N.J.
Two Hundred Professionals in Long-term Care and Elder Care Attended CE Seminars, Networking, and Keynote Speech; Many Were Recognized for Their Contributions to Person-Centered Care and the Longtree & Associates Mission
MESA, Ariz., September 30, 2022 (Newswire.com) - Longtree & Associates, a healthcare education and consulting company, celebrated its 24th anniversary with a symposium on elder care issues, hosted with Honor Aging and Dove Hospice Services on September 13 in Princeton, N.J. The theme was "Compliance Reboot 2022: A Fresh Look at Long-Term Care Issues."
Laurie Loughney, CEO of Longtree (based in N.J. and Ariz.) and Tim Hodges, president of Honor Aging and co-founder of Dove Hospice Services (in East Brunswick and Manalapan, N.J.), coordinated the program.
Two hundred industry experts attended, including CEOs, CFOs, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, case managers and administrators. They enjoyed networking, CE seminars, awards of appreciation and a keynote address by Dr. Ankur Patel, author of "Age is Just a Number: A Geriatrician's Secrets for Getting the Most Out of Life."
"What a wonderful day, celebrating our clients, partners and students—and of course, our 24 years in business," said Loughney. "We thank everyone who attended for their dedication and tenacity to honor, advocate for and respect the elders and the families we serve. I am most proud of being part of this amazing group of professionals."
"It was such an honor to be part of this event," said Hodges. "Elder care is evolving as is society's perception of what aging means, so we chose topics that would provide guests with actionable information to improve care and communication in their work."
The seminars, presented by leading professionals in their fields, covered medication administration compliance, redirecting challenging resistance and non-compliance in care plan strategies, assisting the elderly with self-advocacy and self-care, technology in long-term care, and life safety compliance.
Loughney presented awards to Longtree presenters, consultants and partners, with custom-engraved crystal apple paperweights to acknowledge their support of and contributions to Longtree over the years. Outstanding achievement awards were given to Lisa Kelly, CALA, CDP (Executive of the Year at New Standard Senior Living in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J).; Jolie Fromm, CALA, CDP (Quality of Services and Compliance); Barbara Darlington, RN, BSRN, MS, A- NP, LNHA for her excellent mentorship of numerous healthcare professionals; and Alex Gross, LNHA (Innovative Business Award).
Keynote speaker, Dr. Ankur Patel talked about "Breaking the Culture of Ageism: Awareness, Competency and Sensitivity."
"Age is mostly a number and we have to redefine aging. Changing your mindset from negativity to positivity is a process, and an opportunity to shift the direction in your life towards a healthy aging journey. I encourage you to consider these healthy mechanisms—positivity, spirituality and social connection to others."
Patel shared additional secrets to getting the most out of life: 30 minutes of daily exercise, sleep, good hydration, and a healthy diet. He provided each attendee with a copy of his book.
