Looks Worth Millions of Dollars
Showbiz stars surrender millions of dollars to insurance companies. And what's insured isn't only real estate, business and valuables, but also their own body parts.
Online, June 23, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Showbiz stars surrender millions of dollars to insurance companies. And what's insured isn't only real estate, business and valuables, but also their own body parts.
Hollywood actress Gia Skova insured her hair for one million dollars. The insurance company will pay the star exactly this amount should anything happen with her hair.
As reported by U.S. media, the actress is currently shooting in a film involving many scenes with special fire effects. While filming, Gia isn't able to use a wig or hair extensions. Therefore the actress worries that her long hair with its rare natural color - bright blond with wheat hue - could catch fire.
There are other examples of such seemingly odd insurance policies. Insurance companies previously issued policies to showbiz stars and their "extraordinary" body parts too.
For example, Kylie Minogue insured her backside so everyone would know she has something to be proud of. At the same time, she starred in a provocative advertisement for her insurance company.
Meanwhile, Claudia Schiffer valued her face at $10m, while in the agreement each of 10 fragments were stipulated by separate clauses specifying a certain value.
David Beckham, the world football star, reportedly took out insurance on the safety of his legs. And little wonder; precisely his legs make the footballer wealthy and famous.
Who else's middle finger of the left hand could be worth $1.6 million than Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards? He valued his finger at exactly that much.
However, insurance companies have also refused to render services to even the famous. In particular, company agents had to refuse Madonna when the latter sought to insure her chest, because the amount of the contract seemed exceedingly high.
Even the most committed insurance companies spurn the actor Jackie Chan, since there's no telling whether the actor will depart the next filming location intact and unharmed.
