Los Angeles Businessman Bradley S. Cohen Is Awarded $38.3 Million by Las Vegas Jury
Phoenix, ARIZONA, February 17, 2016 (Newswire.com) - After almost four years waiting for trial, on February 17, 2016, an eight-member jury panel in the US District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada entered a unanimous verdict in a civil trial in favor of Los Angeles businessman Bradley S. Cohen, awarding him and his company Cohen Asset Management, Inc. $35.3 million in damages for defamation per se and false light invasion of privacy, and an additional $3 million in punitive damages against the defendants, a disgruntled former tenant and his company, and an employee, who posted a website falsely comparing Mr. Cohen and his business to the notorious Bernie Madoff. Mr. Madoff is presently serving 150 years in prison for a fraudulent Ponzi scheme uncovered in 2008.
Lead trial counsel on the case for Plaintiffs was Robert D. Mitchell, Esq. of Tiffany & Bosco, P.A., Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Mitchell was accompanied by attorneys Anthony M. Glassman, Esq. of Glassman Browning of Beverly Hills, California and Sarah K. Deutsch, Esq. also of Tiffany & Bosco, P.A.
Mr. Cohen and his counsel express their heartfelt gratitude for the jury’s decision, and believe the jury’s verdict sends a very powerful message to those who would abuse the Internet to defame others.
Questions should be directed to Plaintiffs’ lead counsel, Robert Mitchell, Esq. at (602) 722-3855.
