Low-cost First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification Classes in Utah Announced by Non-profit Group
Online, July 8, 2011 (Newswire.com) - First aid and CPR certification classes are now available at low cost to the public thanks to a Utah non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving lives.
The Association for Health and Wellness (A4HW), an IRS approved 501 c 3 charity, has initiated a program to bring first aid and CPR training to as many people as possible at a very low cost. Companies, community groups, and organizations are invited to sponsor a training class for their members and the public to attend.
The group offers a combined training class that provides certification in Standard First Aid, Adult and Pediatric CPR, and AED. The combined class takes just 3 ½ to 4 hours to complete, and a nationally recognized certification card is presented at the end of the class.
"The course was developed by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). The certification cards are accepted by employers, government, the military, Boy Scouts of America, and others. Course materials were developed by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Wilderness Medical Society - four of the most respected names in injury, illness, and emergency medical care," explained David M. Bresnahan, A4HW executive director.
All the latest changes recently made to first aid and CPR courses by the Heart Association and Red Cross will be included in the training and course materials. Students can update or renew current certifications from any organization as well.
"There has been a great deal of publicity about changes to CPR methods, but there have also been some changes to first aid procedures that are also important to know. This is a good time for everyone to take a course and learn these improved ways to save a life," explained Bresnahan.
The organization maintains a web site at www.A4HW.org where detailed information about classes can be found. Companies, groups, and even individuals can host a training class at any location and time that is convenient to those who will attend.
"Classes are conducted by nationally trained and certified instructors, who volunteer their time to help keep the cost as low as possible. Hopefully convenient, short classes for very little cost should mean that many, many more people will become certified than ever before," said Bresnahan.
A certification class may be scheduled by calling (801) 804-5386 or by visiting www.A4HW.org.
