LPRI Convenes, Endorses Gary Johnson

The Libertarian Party of Rhode Island (LPRI) announced the results of the State Convention held this past Saturday in East Green

The Libertarian Party of Rhode Island (LPRI), the Libertarian Party is America's third-largest political party who believes in minimum government and maximum freedom, announced the results of the State Convention held this past Saturday in East Greenwich, RI.

A few of the The highlights of the proceedings are as follows:

- Plans are made to achive ballot access for 2012 Libertarian Candidates.

- Gary Johnson wins the Libertarian Party of Rhode Island Presidential endorsement with 50% of the vote. 40% goes to Carl Person, with 1% voting NOTA (none of the above).

- Delegates and alternates are nominated for the 2012 Libertarian National Convention hosted in Las Vegas, NV

- Longtime Libertarian political activist Mike Rollins (North Providence, RI) is elected state party chair.

-Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

-The Libertarian way is a caring, people-centered approach to politics. We believe each individual is unique. We want a system which respects the individual and encourages us to discover the best within ourselves and develop our full potential.

-The Libertarian Party is for all who don't want to push other people around and don't want to be pushed around themselves. Live and let live is the Libertarian way.

-The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.
