Lt Gen Mahesh Vij VC Shridhar University Chief Guest Birla Shishu Vihar Pilani Annual Day Function
A small nursery school established in 1953 by Shri GD Birla with about two dozen students and a teacher at Vidya Vihar Pilani growing today to a strength of over 750 students and 30 teachers is no mean achievement.
Online, December 27, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The school is run under the aegis of Birla Education Trust and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education - CBSE and soon is being upgraded to a Senior Secondary School. From Class I Junior to Class VII the school is co-educational while from Class VIII only girl students are admitted to the school.
On 28 Novemeber 2011, Birla Shishu Vihar celebrated its 59th Annual Day. The Chief Guest for the same was Lt Gen (Retd) Dr Mahesh Vij Vice Chancellor Shridhar University Pilani. Prominent among the audience included Dr V N Dhaulakhandi Director Birla Museum, Principals of various Pilani schools, Shri R S Jakhodia well known Pilani entrepreneur and Prof BR Natarajan Pro Vice Chancellor Shridhar University.
The opening Happiness song truly set the mood for the evening proceedings. Other items included a colourful Rajasthani Dance, a heart touching English Play based on "the Dear Departed" written by Stanley Houghton, a humorous Hindi play taking a dig at clash of old and new medical treatments, a foot tapping Western Dance, a Tagore story based Bengali Dance, scintillating music by the school orchestra, the shake it up everyone Punjabi Dance and an inspiring Patriotic Song.
In his welcome speech, Director of Birla Education Trust - BET, Col V N Ratnakar described Lt Gen Mahesh Vij whose achievements in a span of sixty odd years cannot be achieved by anyone else even in more than double the time span. Principal Mrs M Dimri presented the Annual Report highlighting the significant achievements of the school. The Principal made a special mention of the coordination done by Shridhar University with HelpAge India SAVE mission for Birla Shishu Vihar to observe UN International Day of Older Persons on October01, 2011.
In his speech Lt Gen Mahesh Vij VC Shridhar University pointed out that Pilani which glitters like a diamond in the educational map of India today is well known for various top ranking educational institutions and one of which without doubt is Birla Shishu Vihar. Stating that Education has many dimensions such as acquisition of knowledge and expertise, training of mental abilities and last but not least development of character, he emphasized that Education, through the process of transmitting societal values, prepares the young for their social inheritance. A newsletter "NINAD" the voice of Birla Shishu Vihar was also released on this occasion.
When the students who had excelled in various curricular and extracurricular activities received the prizes, the audience responded by giving a befitting round of applause. When the celebrations ended with the singing of the National Anthem, parents of the students who were present for the celebrations were indeed beaming with pride as their children were part of an institution which is destined to be one among the top ranking schools in India today.
