Luis Bravo's "Forever Tango" celebrates it 20th Anniversary with the release of "Tzigane" CD

ARIES MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT SET TO ISSUE MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO MASTERS OF TANGO MUSIC

Luis Bravo's world-renowned production "Forever Tango," which has played to great acclaim in Europe, Canada and throughout the United States, including three runs on Broadway, will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with the release a new CD of the music from its newest production entitled TZIGANE. The 12-song collection is the realization of Bravo's dream to record the music of the true masters of his native Argentina's international export-tango music-with veteran musicians, many of whom had performed with the legendary composers.

TZIGANE will arrive in stores on September 21 from Aries Music Entertainment. It mines compositions written by a veritable encyclopedia of tango, including renowned composers Astor Piazzolla, Agustín Bardi, Alejandro Junnissi, Mariano Mores, Pedro Maffia, Agustin Bardi,

Eduardo Rovira, Enrique Santos Discepolo, Osvaldo Berlingieri and Osvaldo Pugliese, and presents their work as these composers intended, utilizing the original arrangements that were created in the 1930s and 1940s.

The title piece, "Tzigane," is a little-known, very early piece written by premier tango composer Astor Piazzolla during the time his spent in Paris in 1953 (he died in 1992). Bravo discovered a rare recording of it with Orchestra of L'Opera de Paris in a record collector's store in New York in 1997 and wanted to make his own recording of it ever since. He would have to wait until late 2009 to gather the virtuoso musicians necessary to make this project a reality. Piazzolla was also the leading 20th century proponent of the bandoneón, an instrument in the concertina family that is a cornerstone of tango music. For TZIGANE, Bravo assembled four renowned bandoneón players-Víctor Lavallen, Carlos Niesi, Jorge Trivisonno and Hector Del Curto-with Lavallen, who tours with "Forever Tango," conducting. Additionally, the CD features several of the players who tour with "Forever Tango" on violin, viola, double bass, piano, keyboard, congas and harp to round out the orchestra, as well as Bravo himself on the cello. Bravo, who has played cello since childhood, has guested with many internationally-known orchestras, among them the Argentine National Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Boston Pops.

Likening this group of seasoned purveyors of music from Argentina to the famed Buena Vista Social Club of Cuba, Bravo knew that it was imperative to make this recording now because of the age of some of the players. "I will never again have the opportunity to bring together this unique combination of master musicians who are the only ones who know how to play this beautiful music to share with the generations to come," writes Bravo in the CD's booklet. "This record emulates what these remarkable old masters had accomplished by playing Tango with Aníbal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Astor Piazzolla and Juan D'arienzo." TZIGANE was recorded and mixed at Phase One Studios in Toronto.

The new production of "Forever Tango," which will be entitled "Tzigane," will begin a world tour in mid-November, heading first to China. In December, the production will be joined by American dancer Cheryl Burke of "Dancing with the Stars" fame, who will tour with the company into early in the new year. Burke has spent her recent hiatus time from the show in Buenos Aires studying with the "Forever Tango" company.

The tango, a dance which essentially took root among the European immigrants who converged on Argentina in the late 19th Century, was popularized in brothels as a dance of loneliness, passion and lust. Bravo, creator and director of "Forever Tango," has brought it international attention over the past 20 years, and in creating TZIGANE, he has taken the works of some of the most acclaimed composers of tango music to weave a timeless tribute to the art form.
