Luncheon Hopes to Open Doors to Solutions for Community Problems

It may take a village to raise a child, but it also takes a community to build one.

On Wednesday, March 25th, Tampa Bay charities and their support network are invited to attend a luncheon and discussion at the Church of Scientology’s Fort Harrison Religious Retreat. Open to 120 attendees, the event will provide a forum for networking, sharing best practices and getting diverse charitable groups into collaboration.

The event will begin with a buffet lunch at 11:30, followed by a facilitated discussion. For this, guests will then be taken through a series of discussion questions. Then table by table, each group will then share the outcomes and offer solutions to improve the reach of their group to the end goal of a better community.

A community that pulls together can make a better society for all.

In honor of the beginning of spring, and spring cleaning, guests are asked to bring donations of dish soap or laundry detergent which will be utilized by the various safe homes and shelters run by Religious Community Services.

This will be the fifth Coalition Luncheon. Previous speakers have included actress and activist Kelly Preston and have been attended by representatives from nearly 70 non-profit and charitable groups.

“Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote that ‘A community that pulls together can make a better society for all’ and we, as a community, have a unique opportunity to do that here in Pinellas County,” said Pat Harney, the spokesperson for the Church of Scientology’s international religious retreat in Clearwater.

The Fort Harrison, home to the Coalition, has provided charitable support since construction completed in late 1926. Historical records and media stories since 1927 show a wide variety of fundraisers and charity events at the facility.

The event is open to any executive from a non-profit or any board members from a non-profit.  There is no cost to attend.

If you are interested in receiving an invitation to the event, please contact Pat Harney or Lisa Mansell at 727-467-6860.
