Luxury Hotel in Manila Donates 1 Million Pesos to ABS-CBN's Sagip Kapamilya Foundation

Online, December 12, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The spirit of camaraderie or bayanihan was witnessed as Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, the only French luxury hotel in Manila, donated one million pesos to the Sagip Kapamilya Foundation of the ABS-CBN Network. The turnover was held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza's Davao function room which was attended by the hotel's executives and ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya Foundation. The cash donation was garnered from the generosity of over 117 Sofitel hotels around the world which voluntarily shared their resources to help the victims of "the "Habagat" flood that hit the country August of 2011.

It can be recalled that excessive rains and massive flooding brought by the "August 7's Habagat" have tremendously changed the lives of our brothers and sisters in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. During that time, more than 384,000 families have sought shelter in evacuation centers, thus, leaving their own homes and possessions behind just to survive that tragic day.
