Noticed celebrates its newest member, Attorney Lynde Selden II
SAN DIEGO, September 25, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Lynde Selden II, Senior Corporate In-House Counsel, Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc., has joined Noticed©, an invitation-only service for distinguished professionals. Selden has been chosen as a Distinguished Lawyer™ based on peer reviews and ratings, dozens of recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout his career.
Selden outshines others in his field due to his extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and career longevity. A graduate of NYU, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California in 1976 and began his legal career representing plaintiffs in insurance bad faith, construction defects, personal injury, and contract claims. He spent the next three decades representing plaintiffs in and out of California in both federal and state courts, as well as courts of appeal.
Since the great mortgage meltdown in 2007, there have been many significant changes to the way mortgage companies do business: I was new to the industry then, and the changes were new to the industry then also. As luck would have it, I wasn't that far behind the learning curve.
Lynde Selden II, Senior Corporate In-House Counsel | Plaza Home Mortgage, Inc.
With over 40 years dedicated to law, Selden brings a wealth of knowledge to his industry, and, in particular, to his area of specialization. When asked why he decided to pursue a career in law, Selden said:
"At NYU, I had an economics professor required us to read case law. That’s what really piqued my interest in becoming an attorney, because when I would read these things, everyone sounded really logical and knowledgeable, and I liked that. I also enjoyed writing, and writing is a skill integral to practicing law."
In 2008, Selden was hired as in-house counsel by Plaza Home Mortgage, a San Diego-based privately owned residential mortgage company that makes loans in fifty states. Today, he oversees the litigation for the company and advises it on everything from human resources and loss mitigation to diversity and inclusion, regulatory compliance, and servicing issues. Since learning the ropes in the financial services industry, Selden is a regular lecturer at industry conferences speaking from the perspective of in-house counsel.
As a thought leader in his field, Selden has been listed among San Diego Magazine’s Top Lawyers and in California Top Lawyers. With this prominence, he maintains unique insight into current trends in California mortgage banking law. In particular, he notes:
"Since the great mortgage meltdown in 2007, there have been many significant changes to the way mortgage companies do business: I was new to the industry then, and the changes were new to the industry then also. As luck would have it, I wasn’t that far behind the learning curve."
Selden maintains memberships in various professional organizations. He is currently involved with the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and the California Mortgage Bankers Association. Selden has been registered as an AV® Preeminent™ Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell®, among other prestigious distinctions.
