M2M Communications Set to Transform UAE Businesses

Enterprise leaders gathered in Dubai today (22 September 2013) to explore how M2M communications will shape businesses across the UAE and region in the future.

The M2M Middle East Forum the first large-scale UAE discussion platform on how machine-to-machine (M2M) technology opened to more than 120 enterprise leaders this morning. The forum's keynote address was delivered by Abdulla Hashim, Senior Vice President - ICT, Etisalat who discussed "Driving Sustainable M2M Solutions in the UAE".

Speaking before his address Abdulla Hashim commented "We are proud to be hosting the first M2M forum in the Middle East and provide a platform for experts in the region. M2M technology will make our future more sustainable through more efficient energy use. It is Etisalat's M2M technology infrastructure, investment and solutions that will make that sustainable future a reality in the UAE."

The forum organised by DMG Events brought together international and regional experts to identify how M2M is transforming their business. Through industry case studies participants gained practical insights into how integrating M2M technology in their organisation can create new revenue streams, increase agility, reduce cost and optimise business.

One of the highlights of the M2M Middle East forum hosted by Etisalat and Mobily was the panel discussion on how M2M solutions will shape the future of the UAE, moderated by Karim Yaici, Analyst, Analysys Mason who was joined by Sougata Nandi, Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Controls and Harish Nanjundaswamy, Chief Technology Officer, Higher College of Technology, David Brown, General Manager, Frasers Hospitality and Abdulla Hashim, Senior Vice President - ICT, Etisalat. During the session the experts explored the role M2M will play over the course of the next 5 years and addressed the key challenges and drivers of adoption of M2M communications in the UAE.

Over the course of two days the forum showcased innovative M2M solutions by Etisalat, Mobily, Gemalto, Safran Morpho, GEOTAB and NetCommWireless to enterprise professionals across the region's energy, utilities, government, public sector, retail, automotive, transport and logistics sectors.

The M2M Middle East Forum concludes today (23 September 2013) at The Address Dubai Marina, UAE where the attendees will hear presentations and debates from Zeeshan Ilyas, Mobily Saudi, Mark Ossel, Energy Service Network Association (ESNA), Richard Thompson, Safran Morpho, Shrikant A. Kabboor, Emaar Properties PJSC, Prof. Bob Gann, NHS Direct and Chris Ahlgren, IKEA Group.
