Magic Classes to Begin in Nassau County on Thursday, March 24th
Gary Dreifus' popular Beginner's Magic Class is coming to Nassau County. Five-Star Sports & Entertainment Academy, in East Rockaway, is hosting the Magic Classes beginning Thursday, March 24th.
Online, March 10, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Why would a person take a magic class?
I want to learn Magic and amaze my friends.
I want to be the Life of the Party!
I want to show people how cool I am.
Yes the statements are correct, but should not be the primary reasons to learn magic.
Not according to Gary Dreifus.
"Magic offers so much to the serious student. Learning magic can help to develop creative and critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills and self-confidence," Gary says, "Magic has the power to entertain, the power to amaze and the power to motivate a child to learn. The tricks are illusions, but the benefits are very real."
Gary Dreifus has been performing magic, mentalism and hypnosis for over 35 years. He has been teaching Magic classes at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn for over 10 years. An accomplished entertainer, lecturer, motivational speaker, his clients have included the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, NYC Department of Education, AT&T, Medgar Evers College, CUNY, Verizon, Police Square Club, Freemasons, the New York Marfan Society, Knights of Pythias, the Wounded Warriors program and other varied corporations and non-profit organizations throughout the tri-state area.
Gary is founder and CEO of Magical Promotions, a company that places world-class magicians in specific venues throughout the country. He has several instructional DVD's taped and distributed internationally for professional magicians and has been a consultant for some of the top illusionists and magic companies in the world.
He is also the producer and host of "Magic at Coney!!!", a magical variety show highlighting world-class, award winning magicians. It is a full length program featuring illusionists, mentalists and close-up magicians from around the world with performers that "run the gamut from mild to wild."
Gary has most recently brought his popular magic classes to after school, enrichment, and senior programs throughout the tri-state area.
So why study magic?
Gary is very quick to answer:
"Over the years of teaching magic, I have seen some incredible results in both children and adults. Achieving mastery and control over one's environment is an important developmental task to experience during childhood and into adulthood. Magic is a creative tool to assist in achieving this goal. Offering an outlet for self-expression, self-identity, and appropriate communication (even with the most non-verbal child), magic can be used to capture their attention.
It teaches public speaking, eye-hand coordination, socialization skills, sequencing, cognitive skills, fine and gross motor skills. Magic improves one's attention and memory. It gives the student a true sense of accomplishment with abilities that stay with them for the rest of their lives. It provides an individual with the proficiency to establish rapport, utilize linguistics and make a presentation in a clear and concise manner".
Gary will begin teaching magic to children and adults in three different classes: One class for younger children, one for older children and one for adults. The classes will begin March 24th and will be held at the Five-Star Sports & Entertainment Academy in East Rockaway. Five-Star Sports & Entertainment Academy is already the established sports academy for entire family and this adds one more benefit. Five-Star is the place for athletes to train with some of the nation's top instruction and talent.
