Magnolia River and 3-GIS Announce City Of Albany, GA to Deploy Express Solution for Pavement Manag

Decatur, AL - Magnolia River and 3-GIS, Alabama-based GIS companies, have announced the Public Works Department in the City of Albany, Georgia will deploy Express Solution for the city's Pavement Management Program.

Magnolia River and partner 3-GIS have implemented 3-GIS' Express Solution to track maintenance of the City of Albany's street network as part of the Pavement Management Program. Express Solution leverages Esri's ArcGIS Server to seamlessly flow network data between an office administrator utilizing Network Express and field technicians with the mobile Field Express. Three departments, Public Works, Planning and Zoning, and Engineering will revolutionize city road maintenance with this new software. Using a combination of GIS, customized city maps and GPS, the city will be able to track problem areas and make comprehensive inspections and decisions. From the office, an administrator can set the work orders for the field crews and track work flows. A worker in the field will inspect the roads and input information into the database. An assessment of the mapping data will give a complete picture of the situation, allowing the worker to acknowledge the quantity of asphalt he can take to the job. Express Solution will allow the city to respond and track problem areas around town, all while being mobile and using less time and manpower.

"What we had before was basically a clipboard, measuring wheel and a calculator. Field Express gives a worker the opportunity to take his office out into the field, and to do things in his vehicle more efficiently than he'll be able to do at his office PC," said Phil Roberson, Albany Public Works Director, "The efficiency we will gain from this, and the way we go about rating streets for resurfacing, will more than pay for the expense of the hardware and software down the line."

Daniel Rogers, Solutions Engineer for 3-GIS, commented, "We are configuring Albany's existing road and land base data with tools for reporting street problems and conditions, and inventorying overall the health of the City's paved surfaces." He continued, "Providing a history of specific information that can be accessed efficiently across departments will aid in the planning and execution of resurfacing and paving projects."

Dale Jobes, Vice President of Government Solutions for Magnolia River, said "This implementation demonstrates the success achieved when cost-saving solutions are adopted by great leaders like those at the City of Albany. It is a pleasure to partner with forward-leaning people to increase efficiency and reduce cost."
