The Utah Food Bank provides food to the disadvantaged throughout the state. Last year, 245,000 meals were provided by the organization. Their programs also include Kids Café, which provides snacks for after-school programs, and the BackPack Program, which ensures that underprivileged children don’t go hungry during the weekends. Seniors, individuals who are homebound, or those who can’t make it to a food bank location are provided with meals through the Food Box Programs and Mobile Pantries.

Jennifer explained that there are many ways that people can contribute to the Utah Food Bank. “First, you can host food drives to help them stock their shelves and provide for those who would otherwise go hungry,” she said. “They even have a virtual drive that allows people to shop for and pay for groceries that go directly to the food bank. Other people opt to give direct monetary donations. With their corporate sponsors and buying power, Utah Food Bank is able to turn each dollar donated into $7.61 in groceries. Of course, the agency also appreciates helping hands from volunteers as well.”
