Makers Bring Unique Perspective to Kokomo Comprehensive Plan via Maker City Discussions
SHAK Makerspace Makers Tackle Maker City in Maker Book Club
KOKOMO, Ind., July 31, 2017 (Newswire.com) - SHAK Makerspace and the City of Kokomo are proud to announce a monthly book club where local makers, artists and interested parties will be discussing Maker City by By Peter Hirshberg, Dale Dougherty, Marcia Kadanoff. The book can be read online for free at https://makercitybook.com.
The members of the book club will review Kokomo's 2017 15-year comprehensive plan and take the lessons learned from that month's chapters to brainstorm ideas and action plans that can creatively address issues and goals in the city plan. You do not need to be a member of the Makerspace to participate in the book club.
The hope is that the energy and extensive knowledge in our local maker community will bring innovative, creative ideas and solutions to grow Kokomo and meet the goals of the comprehensive plan. This partnership enables a collaborative governing and city innovation that will hopefully become a model for other cities and their makerspaces.
