UNICAF today hosted a conference aimed at “Making International Tertiary Education Accessible to Africa”, supported by the University of Nicosia and the University of South Wales.

UNICAF is one of the largest international online platforms in Sub-Sahara Africa with thousands of students studying online.

The introduction of innovative tools by UNICAF in   technology, delivery, and learning, has made it possible to offer internationally recognised qualifications at affordable prices and thus increase access to quality higher education to thousands of African students.   The idea behind UNICAF was to provide a platform through which to celebrate and share the most effective higher education innovations in providing educational access, with a focus on enhancing learning and nurturing employability.UNICAF, one of the most generous scholarship programmes stands firm in their belief that Africa deserves to have access to superior quality education at affordable rates.

Partnering with the UK’s University of South Wales & Cyprus’s University of Nicosia - UNICAF has grown rapidly into the largest international online learning platform in Africa. These partnerships offer African nationals otherwise unable to study, access to both Bachelor’s & Master’s degree programmes with scholarships of up to 80% making top quality higher education both accessible and affordable.

Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) a one Billion person market with 50% of the population under 19 is the most underserved higher education market in the world.

‘50% of that population being under 19 and hungry for higher education. The size of the population is a serious problem as it means there’s great demand but limited supply with over a million students being turned down from local higher education institutions every year.

This is where UNICAF comes in; we believe that everyone should have access to higher education and Africa is no different.

‘Our mission is to bridge this gap and provide Africa with the top quality, internationally accredited higher education it truly deserves’

Said UNICAF CEO, Dr. Nicos Nicolaou.

The conference hosted a number of presentations relating to education in Africa and about providing access and capacity in Higher Education.  A number of presentations focus on the use of technology and innovation to significantly increase access to higher education

Lord Williams of Oystermouth, the Chancellor of the University of South Wales was the guest speaker addressing the delegates.
