Manufacturing Day Grows to Manufacturing Month at Reborn Cabinets

Anaheim Councilman Attends MFG. Day

Manufacturing Day is an annual nation-wide event (https://www.creatorswanted.org/) that takes place in the month of October (Manufacturing Month) and allows organizations to showcase their facilities by opening their doors to junior high, high school, and college students to learn about the exciting field of manufacturing.

During the first two weeks of October, Reborn Cabinets hosted Manufacturing Day events for students at both of their Anaheim locations. Local schools bussed over 130 students to the showroom and manufacturing facility where Reborn team members showed the operations involved in creating kitchen and bath cabinets and shared the different skills utilized in the manufacturing world.  The following week, a different group of students toured the corporate office and learning about internal career opportunities involved behind the scenes in manufacturing. Special thanks to the representatives and companies who took part in making this event a success:

  • Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem: Stephen Faessel
  • Adria Salvatore, AWFS® (Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers®)
  • Adam Kessler, AWFS®/SWM (Society of Wood Manufacturing)
  • Aurea Lawson, Vital Link
  • MJ Cooke, AIME/Anaheim Union High School District
  • Gail Steinbrick, WorkAbility/Anaheim Union High School District
  • Mariam Rojo, City of Anaheim Community Development
  • Lambert Lo, Vineyard Church

This year, Manufacturing Month at Reborn Cabinets was expanded to include a day with students in the wood-working classes at Desert Oasis High School in Nevada. Representatives from Society of Wood Manufacturing (SWM) and Reborn worked with students as they created a hand-crafted item while learning about a career in manufacturing. The student project was designed by Saúl Martín of Architectural Woodworking Company (AWC) Los Angeles and Adam Kessler of AWFS®/SWM. The project took approximately 60 minutes for the students to complete, which was a small shelf made with 2-sided high-pressure laminate (HPL) panels. Several companies attended and provided 'goodie bag' products and supplies towards the project. Special thanks to the representatives and companies who took part in making this event a success:

  • Saúl Martín, AWC (Architectural Woodworking Company) Los Angeles
  • Adria Salvatore, AWFS® (Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers®)
  • Adam Kessler, AWFS®/SWM (Society of Wood Manufacturing)
  • Mike Lind, Complete Cutting Solutions
  • Jose Jimenez, Herrick & O'Herron

  • Mary Arbutina, Nevada Industry Excellence (NIE) MEP (Manufacturing Extension Partnership)

"Reaching out to our communities and getting involved with our youth is important. By exposing future generations to this field, we can educate, generate interest, and motivate students with the opportunities a career in manufacturing offers," says Diana Ramirez, Director of Community Relations. "At Reborn Cabinets, we believe that you can't move forward without giving back. By opening our doors to host a Manufacturing Day event, we hope to make a positive impact in our city and provide our students with future career opportunities."
