Many Events Will Be Raising Money For Charity By Celebrating The Diamond Jubilee

The Diamond Jubilee will take place this weekend from the 2nd to the 4th of June. There are many planned celebrations for people to take part in, but there are also several charity events that are being completed in honour of the Queen's reign.

Many fundraisers are using the diamond Jubilee to raise awareness for their cause, but also celebrate the Jubilee itself with many different events.

The Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated over an extended bank holiday weekend from the 2nd to the 5th of June. This occasion marks 60 years of the queen reigning over the United Kingdom.

Many fundraisers are eager to use the Diamond Jubilee as a way to mark their event raising money for charity. Lloyd Scott has been running a marathon this week dressed in a 140lb antique diving suit. The suit encases Mr Scott in metal, which in the recent heat England has been experiencing cannot be comfortable.

By running the Olympic 2012 marathon route in this suit, Mr Scott is raising awareness and money for the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. The trust raises money that will be used across the commonwealth to deliver projects that benefit lives and provide opportunities. This trust is the lasting legacy that people will remember The Queen for in the future.

The Queen's diamond Jubilee Beacons is a project that sees a network of over 4000 beacons being lit around the commonwealth to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Beverly Hicks from Worcester and a group of other climbers will be scaling Scafell Pike, England's tallest mountain, to light the beacon at the summit. This event will be raising money for Cancer Research UK, and with the help of the Diamond Jubilee weekend, will receive a lot more press than it would otherwise.

The Long Distance Walkers Association have organised a 100 mile walk that will take place from the 2nd to the 4th of June to honour the Diamond Jubilee. This walk will take participants around various sites in London before finishing in royal Windsor. It supports a number of charities with a large number of participants raising money for the overall causes as well as their own chosen charities.
