Many Theme Parks Across North America Offer Boarding Services for Traveling Pets

ARK & TENT Travel Magazine provides a round-up of ten (10) theme parks across North America where pets are welcome, too.

Traveling with pets can be both a joy and a challenge. You bring them along because you want to keep them close, but what can you do with them if you're planning to spend an entire day visiting an attraction that's far from home?

Fortunately, many well-known theme parks have considered this and offer solutions to ease a pet owner's mind. ARK & TENT Travel Magazine, an online resource for travelers with a focus on animal-related travel, provides a round-up of ten (10) theme parks across North America where pets are welcome, too.

"Recently, I visited Dollywood on vacation," notes Managing Editor Erin Caslavka. "And as always, I wanted to find out what I could do with my dog, Etta, if she'd been with me. When I saw the dog-friendly facilities they have onsite, which they call 'Doggywood,' I figured our readers would be just as interested as I was in finding out what other amusement parks would allow you to board your pets."

Included in the unique listing are: Busch Gardens (Tampa, FL); Canada's Wonderland (Maple, ONT); Disneyland and California Adventure (Anaheim, CA); Dollywood (Pigeon Forge, TN); Hersheypark (Hershey, PA); Kennedy Space Center (Orsino, FL); SeaWorld (San Diego, CA and Orlando, FL); Universal Studios (Hollywood, CA and Orlando, FL); and Walt Disney World (Orlando, FL).

Information is provided for each of the pet care facilities at the ten amusement parks, as well as additional notes regarding necessary shots, overnight boarding options, onsite meals, and available supervision. Most facilities cater solely to dogs, but some do accept cats and small animals such as hamsters and gerbils.

With costs that range from $70 per day (for the VIP treatment at Walt Disney World), to free (there's no charge at the Kennedy Space Center for their kennels), options available to pet owners vary from luxe to basic. Some theme parks, such as "Doggywood" (located at the Pigeon Forge theme park belonging to Dolly Parton), offer their pet-guests a place to play that's all their own, while others (such as Canada's Wonderland in Ontario) simply offer kennel cages.

With so many travelers opting for driving vacations, and the increase in numbers of pet-owners taking their animals on the road with them, having information about pet care options is vital. Are They Amused?: Caring for Your Pets While You're Seeing the Sights by Jeannine Clark, available now at ARK & TENT Travel Magazine (http://arkandtent.com/theme_park_pets_102.html) provides a valuable online resource for today's busy (pet-owning) traveler.
