Marc Roberts Announces Major Boxing Site
Marc Roberts, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WWES, announces the first of several potential acquisitions focused on the boxing, entertainment and sports Internet sector.
Online, July 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Worldwide Entertainment & Sports Corp. (NASDAQ:WWES), announced today that it is expanding its Internet incubation strategy following the record setting launch of its Internet subsidiary, Sportcut.com, Inc. WWES intends to acquire a network of entertainment and sports companies on the Internet and in executing this strategy the Company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire House of Boxing, a prominent Internet boxing web site located at www.Houseofboxing.com for cash and stock totaling approximately $1 million.
The HOB acquisition is part of the Company's strategy to acquire and invest in entertainment and sports related Internet businesses in order to leverage the inter-company synergies between acquired Internet companies and WWES' core athlete management business. WWES will commit the necessary resources to growing acquired companies which in turn will provide its Internet subsidiary, Sportcut.com, with additional content and help drive traffic to its web site at www.sportcut.com. The Company also said it intends to pursue additional acquisitions in verticals including boxing, football, motorsports, basketball, extreme sports, golf, and skiing amongst others.
House of Boxing's web site is one of the most comprehensive sources for boxing information on the Internet. HOB was one of the first sports web sites to secure credentials to major boxing events. Last year, HOB covered Mike Tyson and Oscar De La Hoya bouts and the world heavyweight championship live for its many online boxing fans.
Gary Randall and Douglass Fischer, the founders of HOB, have entered into employment agreements with WWES and will continue to be responsible for the overall operations of HOB under a new wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, Worldwide Houseofboxing.com, Inc.
HOB provides boxing fans with fight schedules, news, rankings, and exclusive streaming video and audio profiles and pre- and post-fight interviews with the top fighters and personalities in the sport and business of boxing.
In addition, HOB provides branded content distribution to other sports publications and is developing an e-commerce store for its web site. HOB also owns several additional boxing related web sites including www.boxingnews.net, www.boxingschedule.com and soon to be launched www.boxingpayperview.com.
