Marc Roberts On Vitali Klitschko - Shannon Briggs Fight For October 16th In Germany
Vitali Klitschko will defend his WBC heavyweight title against Shannon Briggs of the United States in October.
Online, August 19, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The 39-year-old Ukrainian says Briggs has "great experience, has even fought significantly more professional fights than I have and is one of the hardest punchers" in the heavyweight division.
Klitschko is 40-2, while the 38-year-old Briggs is 51-5 with one draw.
As per ESPN's report: "I tried for a long time to get into the ring with one of the Klitschkos. Now it's time to write history," Briggs said. "Most of their opponents [expletive] in their pants before they enter the ring. But I will put a lot of pressure on Klitschko. Klitschko can look at his WBC belt for a couple of more weeks. After Oct. 16, it belongs to me."
Boente said plans for American television coverage have not been finalized, but he said he has been in touch with ESPN, which is covering Wladimir Klitschko's Sept. 11 defense against Samuel Peter in Germany.
