Mark Eitel's New Book "Lost by the Lake" is a Probing Coming-of-Age Story About a Young Girl Who Strains for Independence Away From Her Close-Knit Christian Family.

Recent release "Lost by the Lake" from Covenant Books author Mark Eitel is an intimate novel about twenty-one-year-old Kendra Hillashaw and her life-changing decision to break away from her close-knit Christian family, attempting to live as an adult without boundaries or inhibitions—only for her to come face to face with the vulnerability and chaos lurking under the surface of her bravado.

Mark Eitel, an introverted fiction-writer and bass guitar player who lives with his family in Western North Carolina, has completed his new book, “Lost by the Lake”: an introspective glimpse into the life of a young wayward Christian.

Mark shares, “Kendra Hillashaw walked down the dim hallway of her small, neat two-bedroom apartment, turned to the right into the living room, and sprawled out on the sofa. She reached behind her head for a moment, felt for the remote control, and turned on the TV. The damp, dreary day beyond the blinds on the front double window was doing nothing to improve her mood.

Her long legs poked around; found their way beneath a tan, velvety blanket; and became still. Kendra had always been tall for her age and was tall as the twenty-one-year-old she had now become. She was five foot eleven and slender, with strikingly lustrous dark auburn hair that danced about her shoulders, light blue-green eyes that seemed to be exact copies of her mother’s, fair skin that seemed to be copied as well, and a faint sprinkling of freckles across her nose. Kendra had once been a gangly, lanky girl, until the adolescent years had nudged some portions of her gently horizontally, delicately balancing the overt verticality she’d always had with a clear, well-proportioned femininity that had turned many a boy’s head and still did.”

Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Mark Eitel’s new book is a poignant portrait of a Christian family, replete with its distinctive clashing and cooperation, compassion and conflict.

Readers will follow Kendra as she comes to realize just how far and wide the love of her family covers her flawed sense of control.

Readers can purchase “Lost by the Lake” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
