Marketing Course Taught By Gunjan Aggarwal- Assciate Dean, 9.9 School Of Convergence And Co-Founder E-squared For Bhutanese Media Well Appreciated

Bhutan Media Foundation and New Delhi-headquartered 9.9 School of Convergence recently conducted a highly successful three-day, intensive course on marketing, advertising, circulation and distribution (print, visual and broadcast) from July 25-27.

Bhutan Media Foundation and New Delhi-headquartered 9.9 School of Convergence recently conducted a highly successful three-day, intensive course on marketing, advertising, circulation and distribution (print, visual and broadcast) from July 25-27 for Bhutanese media professionals to apprise them of the sales and marketing models in a media house. Gunjan Aggarwal, CA, MBA and co-founder of E-Squared and Bejoy Veer Suri, MA, MBA and co-founder of E-Squared were the two prominent trainers who took the participants through the paces of this course. The course covered traditional revenue sources as well as newer ways to garner sales like advertorials as an approach, bundling advertising with content; effective use of PR; balancing circulation with revenue/economic feasibility, understanding circulation challenges and opportunities; understanding media reports and metrics, using online as a new medium for generating sales, marketing metrics; and sessions on strategic advertising and negotiation skills, etc. "I never knew how a newspaper can use online advertising to make more revenue. I want to thank my trainers Gunjan Aggarwal and Bejoy Suri for opening our mind," said Dorji, a participant who was particularly appreciative of the course.

This three-day marketing and advertising course is part of a 20-day custom-designed training programme in Thimphu for 135 Bhutanese media professionals. The 20-day programme has 5 different courses, which are being delivered by internationally acclaimed media personalities, media managers, and media marketing experts. Gunjan Aggarwal, who is also Associate Dean, 9.9 School of Convergence said, "We have put together the finest set of senior journalists, with over 25 years of experience of teaching and journalism in India and abroad, especially to impart the training programme." Bejoy Veer Suri, co-founder of E-Squared on the partnership for this course said, "We are really excited about this collaboration with Bhutan Media Foundation that will further the cause of creating a responsible and strong media talent in the Kingdom of Bhutan."

These training sessions have been especially tailored and custom-designed to meet the current challenges faced by Bhutanese media professionals. It is being held for currently serving Editors, Reporters, Circulation and Marketing Executives from various media organizations. The various courses, with intensive sessions, are being conducted in both English and Dzongkha by three national and seven foreign trainers from the 9.9 School of Convergence, New Delhi, India. All of them are highly competent and vastly experienced.

This programme delivered by 9.9 School of Convergence, New Delhi is the first of its kind being held in the Kingdom of Bhutan. The curriculum of the various courses is based on the capacity need assessment exercise that the Foundation carried out in 2011 for the media. The Bhutan Media Foundation was established through a Royal Charter issued by His Majesty the King on February 21, 2010 to foster the growth of a strong responsible media capable of playing an important role in the social, economic and political growth of the nation.
