Marketplace for Conscious Consumers and Sellers

Ethikl is an online marketplace and community for conscious consumers to buy and sell a variety of eco-friendly, fair trade, sweatshop free and organic products.

Launched in January 2010 by Australian based Founder Peita Gardiman, Ethikl is focused on providing people with the resources needed to make good choices and connect with others who share the same passion. Ethikl is currently selling over 2000 ethically produced products from more than 200 small artisan sellers across Australia and they are set to open their doors to the international market this month and take advantage of the $500 Billion global LOHAS market.

Ethical consumerism has been heralded as one of the main trends for 2010 riding on the back of the current trend for natural and organic products. Research has shown that consumer demand for organics is growing rapidly with worldwide demand for organics is growing by between 20 per cent and 45 per cent each year and Fair Trade by 72 per cent.

Ethikl offers a huge variety of unique and ethically sourced products, from organic food to fair trade handbags and natural beauty products. "It's not just the idea of buying, but sharing values and understanding the impact we're all having on people and the planet that is the sites goal. It's taking the principles of eBay and recreating it - I call it eBay with soul.'' Say Peita Gardiman.

Small artisan sellers on the Ethikl marketplace can set up virtual storefront to showcase their creations and they can also link to their blogs, facebook and other social media sites which enables them to interact with consumers, thereby providing a way for buyers to confidently make positive buying decisions that favour ethical products, be they fair trade, cruelty free, organic, recycled, handmade or produced locally and giving the site a true community marketplace feel. It's just like wandering through your local weekend market and stopping for a chat with the local producers, except Ethikl provides them with the means to jump from their local farmers markets to the virtual store shelves.
