Mary Adams, Author of "The Party Dress Book," Teams Up with 365 Days of Sewing to Host "The Apron Dress Contest"

Online, June 15, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Mary Adams, author of "The Party Dress Book," and 365 Days of Sewing cordially invite all seamstresses to participate in The Apron Dress Contest!

Who: This is a special contest for the seamstress who wants to have the best party dress in the room this summer!

What: The Apron Dress Contest is the perfect opportunity for you to challenge yourself creatively by sewing the best possible "Mary Adams-inspired" apron dress that you can, and then submitting photos to enter the contest.

When: The Apron Dress Contest begins on Monday June 13, 2011 and ends on Friday July 29, 2011 at midnight EST. The winner will be announced August 12, 2011.

Dress Requirements:
You may use whatever kind of fabrics, trims and embellishments you choose. Have fun with color and design! The only design element required is an "apron" front, which is a signature design element of many of Mary Adams' dresses. Examples and instructions on how to make an apron-style dress can be found in "The Party Dress Book" on pages 24, 74, 75, and 76. Use the dress pattern included in the back of "The Party Dress Book" to make your dress.

Prize:
Mary Adams will choose the seamstress with the best dress. The winning seamstress will receive a special gift box with a signed copy of "The Party Dress Book" and an apron designed and sewn by Mary Adams herself! Periodically throughout the contest, new items will be added to the gift box, so check the 365 Days of Sewing Blog (http://www.365daysofsewing.com/blogs) frequently to see what else you might win!

How to Enter: To enter, sew the most amazing apron dress you can inspired by Mary Adams' designs and then submit three .jpeg photographs. The photographs must show the 1) Full-length photo of dress front; 2) Full-length photo of dress back; 3) Up-close detail photograph to show workmanship. Photographs must be at least 400x600 pixels and 300 dpi. Email your photographs to [email protected], along with your first and last name, a telephone number and your city and state (or country). Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and quality of workmanship.
